New work for oboe \u00ab\u00a0Ara Solis\u00a0\u00bb – Sergio Rodr\u00edguez.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

During the\u00a0II Congress of oboists and bassoonists of Galicia on March 17, 2019<\/a>\u00a0the work Ara Solis<\/em> by composer Sergio Rodr\u00edguez has been\u00a0premiered<\/span>. We are pleased to introduce the work here.<\/p>\n

Ara Solis is a work written originally for oboe and clarinet quartet commissioned by David Villa to the composer.<\/p>\n

Myths and legends of the Costa da Morte (Galicia, Spain), place the ara solis (altar of the Sun) on the promontory of Cabo Fisterra, in the northwest corner of Spain. It would be a pre-Christian sanctuary dedicated to the Sun in the western end of the known land.\u00a0There the sun was setting every evening.\u00a0It was huge and overwhelming.<\/p>\n

The work Ara Solis<\/i>, divided into five small sections entitled: \u00ab\u00a0Vaise o Sol\u00a0\u00bb, \u00ab\u00a0Foise: venerando o altar\u00a0\u00bb, \u00ab\u00a0Illa da eterna xuventude – Cadenza de \u00f3boe\u00a0\u00bb, \u00ab\u00a0Danza do Sumo Sacerdote\u00a0\u00bb and \u00ab\u00a0Volve o Sol\u00a0\u00bb aims to reflect all those practices that took place in the old Celtic sanctuary and bring the listeners to a reflective and relaxed state.<\/span><\/p>\n
